THE FROG POND (2) (1024x734)

Is that frogspawn, just below the surface? the earliest, transparent hints floating there, waiting for the weather.

Fascinated by self contained lonely lakes, I like to draw and paint them in all seasons. I attempt, through the use of my media, and methods to convey the process of the changes in the water caused by the cycle of the seasons. Here is a pond that is just coming alive in the spring, There are still traces of the freezing, melting, contracting and expanding, and forming unusual shapes which frame the grasses and heather trapped inside it. But something new is happening
This is an original painting, part of an on-going series depicting small ponds and tarns.

The painting is a wax encaustic, watercolour and ink piece, on card.
